Application Information
Requirements
- Have high school diploma or GED (or be on track to by spring of application year)
- Be at least 18 years of age (work permit required if under 18)
- Have reliable transportation
- Have a valid email address
- Have a portable device (tablet or laptop) other than a cell phone to access online curriculum (Must have before start of class)
- Successfully complete a math comprehension assessment and interview

Submit Your
Application
Submit your application below along with the $10 application fee.
Complete the application fully and accurately. You may upload your high school diploma, OSHA card, and any documentation of prior electrical training (if applicable). These documents are not required at the time of application, and you may still apply without them.
Complete the
Math Assessment
Take the required math assessment in person on the HCC campus.
You will receive a letter by email and U.S. mail with instructions on how to schedule and complete your assessment.
The test reviews basic math skills, including word problems and introductory algebra (solving for one variable). A basic calculator will be provided during the assessment.
Attend an
In-Person Interview
Attend your scheduled interview in Edgewood Hall on the HCC campus.
After successfully completing the math assessment, you will be scheduled for a 15-minute in-person interview.
Interview details, including the date and time, will be sent to you via email and U.S. mail.
Receive Acceptance
Notification
Acceptance letters are mailed early July to selected applicants.
You will be notified of your acceptance status by email and U.S. mail. Some applicants may be placed on a waitlist and will be notified accordingly.
Applicants who are not accepted will also receive a notification by mail.
Tuition and Fees
The deadline to apply is May 1, 2027.
There is a $10 application fee, payable with submission of your application. Tuition for the 2027-2028 academic year is $1,825*; access to online curriculum and books are included.
Scholarships Available!
Deadline to apply for HCECA scholarship for the 2026-27 school year is August 1, 2026.
* 10% deposit of $182.50 for 1st year apprentices upon acceptance into the program. Cancellation fee 10% of tuition if less than 1 week prior to start of classes.
